Education

I am a Canadian university graduate with a TEFL Certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) from University of Toronto's Continuing and Professional Learning Program, and a certificate in International Business from Queen's University/Kwansei Gakuin University in Japan. I cooperated with University of Toronto's LAWS Program (Law in Action Within Schools), which aimed at providing tutoring services, job shadowing, and law education to high school students in the Toronto District School Board.

Experience

I have extensive tutoring and teaching experience in Canada, Honduras, France, and Italy. I have worked with age ranges from 2 to 16, teaching English, History, Science, and Math. Currently, I work as a communications consultant online. I completed two terms as a Resource Teacher in a Bilingual School in Honduras, where I taught both one-on-one and in classroom environments of up to 32 children in both online and in-person formats. I provided English, science and math assistance to English as a Second Language students as well as facilitated safe learning space for students with learning impairments. I complemented core teachers work with remedial one-on-one tutoring for students below class average, and I employed various teaching methods to make course material more accessible to students. I volunteered in a Toronto District School Board classroom for two years, where I provided in class help to teachers and students to further efficiency of the classroom setting. I assisted the teacher in the preparation and delivery of lessons in a variety of subjects, including Grammar, Art, History and Geography, as well as graded and provided feedback on students’ assignments and tests. I also worked as a swim instructor for 4 years, where I earned my First Aid and CPR certificates, as well as instructor certificates. I instructed students in basic first aid training and swim skills to The Lifesaving Society of Canada's standards. I coordinated safe swim lessons for classes of up to 15 students with a range of different abilities and ages.

Hobbies

I incorporate my interests as well as student's interests in the learning environment to increase engagement in my students. I like to create worksheets and activities revolving around a students interests, that allows for a personalized experience. I enjoy learning about history, going to museums and exploring the city. I also draw, paint and play piano in my free time, or read for leisure. I go to the gym regularly, as well as swim and play tennis, but have had competed in triathalons in the past.
